Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-21
Applies to: VNTG for iOS (the "App")
Provider: VNTG Hub LLC ("VNTG", "we", "us"), 575 Fifth Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017, USA
The short version
VNTG is a vintage photo editor. You don't create an account, you don't log in, and we don't ask for your name, email, or phone number.
Your photos and videos are edited on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers. The only exception is an image you choose to attach to a support request (see §4).
We collect anonymous usage analytics and diagnostics to run and improve the App, tied to a randomly generated ID, not to your real-world identity. These are our own, first-party analytics, not a third-party tracking SDK.
We do not show ads, track you across other apps or websites, use an advertising identifier (IDFA), or share or sell your data to third parties. Because we don't track you, the App does not present the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see §9).
This policy works together with our Terms of Service and Cookies Policy.
1. Scope
This policy covers the VNTG iOS App. It does not cover third-party services you reach through the App (e.g. Google Photos, Dropbox, or Apple iCloud), which are governed by their own privacy policies.
2. We don't require an account
The App works without sign-up or login. To operate, the App generates a random, anonymous identifier the first time it runs and uses it to associate your settings, subscription status, analytics, and any support requests. This identifier is a random value (a UUID); it is not derived from your name, email, phone, or any Apple ID, and it is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Note: this anonymous identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain and may persist after you delete and reinstall the App on the same device, and may sync to your other devices via iCloud Keychain. It still contains no personal identity, see §9 for deletion.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you give us (support)
If you contact us through the in-app Support Center, we collect what you choose to send: the subject and message you write, any screenshots/photos you attach, your support conversation history, and, if you leave it enabled, a device-diagnostics summary (App version, device model, iOS version, subscription state). Support messages are free text, so if you type personal information into them (for example, pasting your Apple ID email for a billing question), we will receive and store it. Please share only what is necessary.
3.2 Information collected automatically (analytics & diagnostics)
To operate, secure, and improve the App, we collect usage and technical data, none of which includes your photos. This includes:
Device & technical data: device model, iOS version, app version, device language/locale, time zone, and network type (Wi-Fi/cellular).
Usage & interaction data: how you use the App, including the screens, features, and tools you use and how often, and actions such as importing, editing, exporting, and saving (recorded as events only, never the image itself), plus your permission and notification choices.
Subscription & purchase activity: the subscription options you interact with and the outcome of purchases, trials, and restores.
Crash & performance diagnostics: crash reports, errors, and performance data, collected via our crash-diagnostics provider and tied only to an app-generated anonymous install ID. We disable that provider's personal-data collection (no personal info, no screenshots, no view hierarchy, no session replay).
3.3 Approximate location
We derive an approximate, city-level location (city, region, country) from your device's IP address, server-side, for analytics (e.g. understanding where the App is used). We do not store your IP address, and we do not access precise/GPS location for analytics. (If a photo you import already contains GPS metadata, that stays on your device, see §4.)
3.4 Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple via the App Store and managed through a subscription-management provider on our behalf. We receive your subscription and purchase status (which product, trial/active/expired, purchase and renewal dates) tied to the anonymous ID. Apple never shares your payment card or billing details with us.
3.5 Identifiers we use
The anonymous app identifier (random UUID) described in §2.
An anonymous crash-reporting ID for diagnostics.
A push notification token issued by Apple, if you enable notifications (§3.6).
We do not use the device Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because we do not track you.
3.6 Push notifications
If you allow notifications, Apple issues a push token that we store to deliver messages such as support replies and (if you keep them enabled) product updates and offers. You can turn notifications, or individual categories, off at any time in the App or in iOS Settings.
3.7 Marketing attribution (Apple Search Ads)
If you installed VNTG after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, we use Apple's AdServices attribution to learn which campaign brought you, in aggregate. This uses a first-party Apple token, not the IDFA, and does not track you across other apps. The same Apple token is also shared with our subscription-management provider so it can attribute subscriptions to campaigns; it remains a first-party Apple token, not the IDFA.
4. Your photos and videos
This is the most important part, so we're explicit:
Editing happens on your device. Your photos and videos, and the edits you make, are not uploaded to VNTG servers.
Saving writes the edited image to your device's Photos library.
Importing from Google Photos or Dropbox uses read-only access and downloads only the items you pick, directly to your device. We don't browse or copy your wider library, and imported photos are not sent to us.
iCloud sync (optional, off by default): if you turn on sync, your photos, edits, and collections are stored in your own private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. This is your iCloud, not ours, we cannot access it.
Support attachments are the one exception: if you attach an image to a support request, that image (downscaled) is uploaded to our private support storage so we can help you. Don't attach anything you don't want us to see.
Sharing through the iOS share sheet sends your image to whatever app you choose; from that point it's governed by that app.
Any GPS/location metadata inside a photo stays on your device (and in your own iCloud if you enable sync); we don't extract it into our analytics.
5. How we use information
We use the data above only to: provide and operate the App; process and restore subscriptions; provide customer support; diagnose crashes and improve stability and features; understand aggregate usage and measure improvements and experiments; deliver notifications you've enabled; measure install attribution for our own ads; and meet legal and security obligations.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, cross-app/cross-site tracking, profiling for sale, or automated decisions with legal effects.
6. Who we share information with
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising. We use a small set of service providers ("processors") that handle data on our behalf:
Category of recipient | What they handle | Role |
|---|---|---|
App Store & platform (Apple) | Purchases, push delivery, Search Ads attribution, and your own iCloud sync | Processor / platform |
Cloud backend provider | Our backend database, storage, and authentication: anonymous analytics, profile, support tickets + attachments, push tokens | Data processor (our infrastructure) |
Subscription & purchase provider | Subscription and entitlement management; also receives the Apple Search Ads (AdServices) attribution token | Data processor |
Crash & diagnostics provider | Crash and performance diagnostics (personal-data collection disabled) | Data processor |
IP-geolocation provider | Receives your IP transiently, server-side, to return an approximate city; IP is not stored | Data processor |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or VNTG.
7. No tracking, no third-party sharing
We built VNTG so that it does not track you, and your information is not handed to anyone who would use it for their own purposes. Concretely:
No ads and no advertising SDKs in the App.
No advertising identifier (IDFA) and no App Tracking Transparency (ATT) tracking. We do not present the ATT prompt, because we do not track you, and our App Store privacy manifest declares this (the technical flag NSPrivacyTracking is set to false).
First-party analytics only. Our analytics are built in-house. We use no third-party analytics or attribution SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, or similar).
One attribution source: Apple Search Ads. The only install attribution we use is Apple's first-party AdServices measurement, which Apple exempts from ATT. It does not identify you to other apps and is not the IDFA.
No sharing or selling to third parties. We do not share or sell your information to third parties for their own use, and we do not provide it to advertisers, ad networks, or data brokers. The only companies that process your data are the service providers listed in §6, who act on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.
No collection of name, email, phone, date of birth, contacts, calendar, or health data through any form field.
No precise GPS tracking.
8. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize it. Anonymized, aggregated data, which can no longer be linked to you, is not personal data, so we may keep it indefinitely to understand long-term trends. The periods below are our current targets:
Data | Retention |
|---|---|
Usage analytics events and sessions | Raw, per-identifier records up to 24 months; after that we anonymize and aggregate them and keep the aggregated statistics indefinitely (no longer linked to you) |
Anonymous user profile | While the install is active; removed or anonymized when you request deletion |
Support tickets, replies, and attachments | Up to 24 months after the request is closed |
Subscription and purchase records | While the subscription is active and for a limited period afterward for accounting and fraud prevention |
Push notification tokens | Until you disable notifications, the token becomes invalid, or you request deletion |
Crash and performance diagnostics | 90 days |
Marketing attribution records | Up to 24 months |
When you request deletion (§9), we remove or anonymize data associated with your anonymous identifier, except where we must retain limited records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the App is anonymous, exercising these rights requires the anonymous identifier on your device so we can locate your data.
Delete my data: open Settings → Support in the app and send us a deletion request (no account or login is required). We'll delete the data linked to your anonymous identifier.
Notifications: manage categories in the App or iOS Settings.
Permissions: Camera, Photos, and Notifications are controlled in iOS Settings.
Subscriptions: manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.
To make a request or ask a privacy question, use the in-app Settings → Support form. We don't publish a privacy email address; routing requests through in-app Support, which carries your device's anonymous identifier, lets us locate your data and cuts down spam.
10. Children's privacy
VNTG is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The App does not present an age gate. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We operate in the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and the EU. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
12. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), store credentials and identifiers in the iOS Keychain, restrict backend access, and keep support attachments in private storage. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice in the App or on our website.
